Idea for a hike in Valais: we take you to discover the magical world of the Lac de soi at the foot of the beautiful Dents du Midi

As you may know, since the beginning of 2020, we have set up our base in the small village of Morgins, which lies between Switzerland and France in the Chablais region. And if you read us regularly, you also know that we are passionate about hiking. So we thought we would create this new section on our blog to share with you our favorite hikes in the Chablais region. As we will certainly spend several months a year in the region, we will have the time to explore it and we look forward to sharing all these hikes with you.
So before we tell you a little more about this beautiful region, here is a map of all our hikes in Chablais... to help you get some inspiration more easily:
Obviously if you are not from the region, you do not necessarily know where the Chablais is. There is the Swiss Chablais at the end of the Valais and Vaud region from Lake Geneva to St-Maurice and the French Chablais in the north-east of Haute Savoie between Lake Geneva and the Giffre valley.
The region is very beautiful for hiking with beautiful mountains (Dents du Midi, Dents blanches, Dent de Morcles etc...) but also beautiful views of Lake Geneva. In winter, the region is a small paradise for snow sports with the Portes du Soleil area which is the largest ski area in Europe (with its 250kms of slopes)... There are also plenty of great snowshoeing and ski touring to be done.
The advantage of the Chablais is that the region lends itself well to hiking for a good part of the year. The mountains are not as high as in the surrounding Alps (the Haute Cime, the highest peak of the Dents du Midi, reaches 3257m). So there is something for everybody and above all, you can do some very nice hikes already in spring.
Another important asset is Lake Geneva! From many peaks in the Chablais region you have a breathtaking view of Lake Geneva. There's no need to say, you usually get a great view from the summits of the Chablais ;)
So without further delay, here are all our hikes in the Chablais region... a section that will undoubtedly grow in the coming months/years ;)
